I teach English literature at Calcutta University. I edited the book reviews of a well-known journal for ten years. I taught French at Alliance Française for a decade and worked as Director of Publications at the French Embassy, New Delhi.
I have written a few books of essays including one on T S Eliot, and attempted to translate among other things La Rochefoucauld's Maxims.
My best moments were spent with family and friends. My father was my idol. I am hurt by insincerity and ingratitude.

My 16 page interview with Mahasweta Devi has just been published in Boier Desh, July 2011.
I am editing two books right now. One by Father Detienne, the second on Romain Rolland. My book on Rolland will have articles by Bernard Duchatelet, Henri Vermorel, Jean-Pierre Meylan, James Fisher, Guy Sorman, Catherine Clément, Richard Francis, Jean Lacoste, Susann Gundermann, Uli Rothfoss, Marilène Haroux and myself.

Ayan, it is called Where the Dreams Cross: T S Eliot and French Poetry. Chilekothhar Unmadini (Ananda Publishers) also has a few chapters on Eliot. There is a list of Eliot's personal collection of books in Garho Sankher Khonje (Ananda Publishers).

The Jadavpur University Debating Society (J.U.D.S.), in conforming to its longstanding principle of organized argument, is hosting is annual debating event, The Voxpop Nationals 2013.
